Parisian Bliss

Image
Paris has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I got the chance to travel here with a few of my girlfriends and it certainly lived up to my expectations. Here are some of my must-see, engaging, and favorite parts of my stay. Ahhh, Luxembourg Gardens. One could sit around these grounds all day. Whether you want to have a picnic, watch the tourists, or enjoy the beautiful foliage this is the place to be. My mornings consisted of these views, coffee, and a pastry. When can I move here?? Some of the best and most unique shopping is located here, Place de la Madeleine.  From all over Paris you can see the Eiffel Tower. We didn't even look at a map to get there because we wanted to do a little exploring (some of my favorite travel memories are made this way). Views from the top of the Eiffel Tower. I made it a point to walk the steps as much as I could because when my parents came to Paris years and years ago their only option...

Topsail Island, NC

Image
Everyday I try to see the possibilities ahead. I wake up thinking today is a new slate and I am going to have a great day! Wrong. That never quite happens because I can't predict the unexpected, but I sure try. Making the best of your situations can, sometimes, be all the greatness you need in a day. Some days keeping your head above water is as great as it is going to get. That's okay, though, there's always tomorrow. The last 5 weeks consisted of my boyfriends birthday, moving out of our apartment, moving into our new home, getting all new furniture, starting the fall semester, going on vacation to Topsail, NC., a business trip in St. Louis for my boyfriend, and my birthday to top it all off. Needless to say I. Am. Exhausted. I thought this was how I wanted to live and maybe it still is but for right now let me sip on this hot tea while getting a bubble bath ready to gain back some of my lost energy.  Moving into our new home has gone surprisingly smooth. ...

Why do our Favorite Clothes go Unworn?

Image
Ladies, this past weekend I found a gem in the back of my closet. I've had it for a couple years now and I think I've only worn it once. Annnnnd here it is: This is a model. Not me or my picture. Cute, right? Well it is I SWEAR.. this picture just doesn't do it justice. Maybe that's why even though I moved to a different state (where it is much warmer and my closet is much bigger) I haven't worn it in years. I don't even know what made me try it on. It fit too tightly the last time I wore it and nothing special happened that day so I suppose I don't associate the dress with being that great. Oh, but it is. Please don't mind my princess act.. my hair is just so long and the wind here in Oklahoma City is NO JOKE.  So back to why our favorite clothes go unworn; we just don't give our clothes enough credit. Simply put, our bodies and style are constantly changing. Pull out those shirts that just didn't fit right a...

Proper Etiquette

Image
Y'all this gets me every time! So, here are my top 5 proper etiquette tips (most common but forgotten): 1.) Say Please, Thank You & Excuse Me. Often. It is well noted and appreciated. 2.) Write "Thank You" Notes. I've mentioned the importance of writing "thank you" notes on a previous post but I just can't stress it enough. 3.) When Dining; the fork goes on the left of the plate and the knife then the spoon goes on the right. In a lot of dining settings you will be confused as to which fork is for the salad or what the tiny fork is for (oysters, y'all!) and that's OK, but try to educate yourselves on proper settings so that you can feel confident at all dinning settings and even throw your own formal dinner parties! 4.) Know when it is appropriate to talk on the phone. For example, when you're checking out at the department or grocery store it is NOT appropriate to be on your phone. If people are giving you a quizzical/ dirty lo...

NYC Lovin'

Image
There's a little debate going on in my head about whether or not I should post experiences from years ago on my blog. Then it finally dawned on me that those experiences made me the traveling, loving, food-addicted fashionista that I am. So here it goes.... I've posted before that I LOVE New York City. It's a completely different atmosphere than my usual surroundings. That being said let me introduce you to a few places that NYC brought to me (and I'm not just talking about Manhattan)! First and foremost there's Brighton Beach. It’s in the southern part of Brooklyn and a perfect yet unexpected getaway spot with great little shops and dinning! It's like a Baklava lover’s dream come true. The cutest little dessert and gelato shop had me hooked on sweets my entire stay. I even brought back a box for my dad! Cafe Rokhat had amazing food with a private outdoor room/ booth with air conditioning so the comfort level was top notch. Tatianna, a Russi...
